Silly Goose Review

Welcome those of you who are reading this blog. (9-05-2012)

Today's adventure started out with me and my girlfriend, sitting around the house early lunch time. Nothing to do and our stomachs rumbling. To start things off, we graded this establishment on the following criteria:

1. cleanliness
2. wait staff
3. food

our scoring system scales 0 to 10. 10 being the top score, 0 the lowest.

We decided to try out the Silly Goose Restaurant on Upper Court Street in Binghamton, NY.
This restaurant is hard to miss, multiple signs out front, and former location on an Arby's Restaurant.
They offer plenty of off street parking and handicapped spaces.

Upon entering the eatery, the waitstaff was all smiles and asked us to seat ourselves. We chose a window booth. Waitress was right behind us with menu's. Yes, I said menus. They asked us of we were ordering breakfast of lunch. "Breakfast, please". Ordered our drinks, coffee and a coke . Within 1 minute, drinks were on the table. We took about 2-3 minutes to view the breakfast menu, the Sunset Omelet. Stuck out on the menu. Eggs, ham, bacon, tomatoes, onions, cheddar cheese. Hold the onions for me. This also comes with your choice of toast and homefries. If my mind remembers correctly. Mind you I am 41. My girlfriend ordered steak, eggs and homefries. I ordered wheat toast, my girlfriend, rye. After several minutes of waiting, our orders were up and deliver to our table. Upon 1st glance, plate looked very full and greasy. Homefries, way overdone.  My girlfriend recieved wheat toast and me the rye. (Wrong!!!)We proceeded to eat. Why, I don't know. My omelette was very bland and all I tasted was grease from the grill. One bite of homefries was all I could handle. If you like crunchy, this is the place to go. My girlfriends steak was very tough, when I say tough, sore jaw comes to mind. After eating about 1/2 of our meal we waited and waited for our check. Mind you, 2 waitresses and seemed new customers were more important then then the ones ready to go. Finally with a little "excuse me", we were able to get a to go box and check out. Our order, $18.85. We gave them a $20.00 bill and left.

As to our final score:

Cleanliness - 9. Clean and well kept.
Waitstaff - 4. Average, 1 stop by our table in a 45 minute meal to refill my empty coffee. You could tell the regulars, 5-10 minute chat about "school" etc. Wait on your customers, save the chat for breaks, lunch or after work.
Food- 2. I have had worse. Very greasy and tasteless. Steak was tough.

Final grade 15 out of 30.

We left a $1.15 tip. We probably will not return.

Come back next week as we grade another establishment in the Binghamton area.
